Update - Kayaking 1 Star
Congrats to Jon, Nishanth, Gerald, Rashidah, Martin, Austin, Justin in successfully completing the 1 star programme!
Something to look forward in term 3.
If you've never been to Bt Timah, we're going to go hike it soon!
Yah... the sights will be the scary monkeys who would grab your plastic bag if you were ever carrying one. It is a lovely hill to climb though I know some of you are asking, "Why not Mount Faber? Isn't it taller... it is a mountain right?" Hhahahaa... You've done your Southern Ridges night hike the last time, so therefore you've seen Mt Faber...

P/S: For the rest of you Scouters, sorry guys. I can't sign everyone up as there is a limit of 6 persons and it was a rare opportunity offer from Siglap Sec Scouts as it is not easy to book a date and time for everyone to attend at Red Cross HQ (Near Dhoby Ghaut MRT). Will find another opportunity around Nov/Dec holidays period or maybe together with our Dunman Red Cross. TBC.

ERRATA - Kayaking 1 Star Prog
Sorry guys. Some error I need to highlight.
As for FOOTWEAR, when you are kayaking, you'd need to be wearing COVERED SHOES (preferably old ones which you can discard after the second day). That means you can go there wearing slippers or sandals, but change to covered shoes when you are going to kayak.

Time: Meet at 8.30am at Changi Village bus interchange POSB ATM.
We will have breakfast at the Changi Village before walking to the Changi beach to the Changi PA Water Venture Centre for the course.
Other important info:
1. Swimwear - Girls are to bring your swimwear to protect yourself from the obvious. You are all going to get wet. Optional for boys, though you are encouraged to bring them too.
2. Clothing to wear during kayaking
- TOP - Scout Tee or any tee shirts (long sleeved would be good for protection from the sun) + a HAT or a CAP. Girls are to wear dark shirts if they do not have proper swimwear.
- BOTTOMS - Shorts or slacks
- FOOTWEAR - Any old pair of shoes to wear when you kayak, but you can come in slippers or sandals. They are needed to protect your feet from the very sharp rocks and shoes will get black and oily. You don't want to be walking home with sea water sloshing in your shoes.
3. Breakfast & Lunch at your own expense at the Changi Village for the 2 days.
4. It is NOT A CAMP. No overnight stay. Day 1 and Day 2, 8.30am-go there, 5pm-go home, 8.30am-go there, 5pm-go home
5. Bring SUNBLOCK lotion. It will burn... the sun will be merciless and burn...
6. WATER - Each are to bring at least 1 bottle of water (1.5L) or more. Adequate hydration is key to preventing heat injuries leading to heat stroke and such.
7. Those wearing glasses like me are to bring spectacle retainers like this (see image below) as once your glasses fall into the water, say Bye Bye to them forever. Bring Sunglasses if you have or want to wear them.
8. Extra clothing, towel and toiletries - You would need to bathe and go home in dry clothes right? DO BRING extra plastic bags to hold your wet clothes and shoes seperately.
