It is our pleasure to inform you that Tampines District is celebrating our 25th anniversary this year in 2013, and there will be a series of events to mark the Silver Jubilee. The first event is Tampines District Scouting for Food 2013 & Extension Scout Carnival. Taking place in the Founder’s Day weekend, we wish to celebrate the Founder’s Day in an even more meaningful way together as a District. The Scouting for Food has its aim to receive food donations, to manage and to redistribute<br />non-perishable food items to the less fortunate.<br />

Stage 1: Awareness<br />– To give out flyers in own schools<br />Stage 2: Receiving (own schools/ Tampines East CC) 11-22 Feb 2013<br />– To help arrange and stock check donation drop box placed at CC in afternoon - evenings.<br />Stage 3: Packing 18-22 Feb 2013<br />– Sorting and repacking of food items into carton boxes at Tampines East CC in afternoon - evenings<br />Stage 4: Rearranging<br />– Repacking of food items into carton boxes and decoration at Tampines East CC in<br />afternoon - evenings<br /><br />
Finally, on the Event Day on 23 Feb 2013 to officiate the redistribution of the collected food<br />items, special sharing sessions will be done by the NGO partners to enhance the learning<br />objective of the event. During the Event Day, there will be a carnival of game stalls setup by scouts and extension scouts. This carnival is open to all in terms of participation or setting up of stalls.<br />Summary of event as following:<br />

<br />Mt Kinabalu is Malaysia’s first World Heritage Site designated by UNESCO since year 2000, and is the home to some 4,500 species of flora and fauna. Standing at 4095.2m in height, it is a worthwhile challenge right at our doorstep.<br />

<span style="font-size: small;"><span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}">Dear Scouts, this is the preparation information Part 1 to the unit hike which will be held on 25th Aug from 9am to 3pm.<br /> <br /> For Sec 1s (Observer Badge - to fulfil all 5 criteria):<br />
1. In Kim‟s Game, remember 24 out of 30 well-assorted articles after
one minute of observation. Test to be performed twice with different
articles and each article to be adequately described.<br /> 2. Recognise 8
out of 10 simple sounds. These may include animal sounds, sounds of
different musical instrument, different vehicles sound, etc.<br /><span class="text_exposed_show">
3. Give an accurate report of an incident lasting not less than one
minute and involving at least three people. This report must include a
full description of one of the persons involved.<br /> 4. Travel on a
public transport for about 20 minutes or walk along a street for 10
minutes. Describe, to the satisfaction of the examiner, of the places,
people and dynamics that have taken place.<br /> 5. Demonstrate alertness
to potential sources of dangers in an urban setting. This could be done
in the context of a risk assessment or potential terrorist plots in
public places.<br /> <br /> For Sec 2s (Observer Badge + Guide Badge - see below 2 criteria):<br /> 1. Have a good knowledge of a locality of your choice for example a museum, conservation area or neighbourhood. <br /> 2. Collaborative Project with Ayer Rajah Youth Executive Committee - Project Communi’ Bake 2012<br /><br />
We are pleased to introduce the above captioned event for your active participation.<br />Project Communi’ Bake 2012 – a project driven by youths for youths is an initiative of the Ayer Rajah Youth Executive Committee (YEC). The purpose of the project is to create a common platform for Singaporeans to reach out and support the under-privileges, showing care and concern together as an inclusive society.<br /><br />
The project aims to engage different communities to form and assemble the biggest cup cake mosaic of size 16m x 8m, which will bear design synonymous to the NDP theme "Loving Singapore, Our Home" and concurrently culminate for the certification of Guinness World of Records and Singapore Book of Records.<br /><br />
Our Scouts have been invited to partake in the arrangement of the cup cakes mosaic, fringe activities and render yeoman services such as distribution of cup cakes, crowd control and ushering roles.<br /><br />
