Cooking badge course on 14 Aug 09 last year

Photos of Cycling badge course 27 Mar 10, Sat

Think everyone had a good exercise and good fun too eh?
My arms and face are like a cooked lobster now.
Remember the remaining things to do, that is to study the Singapore Highway Code and how to dismantle and fix up a bike plus how to fix a flat tire. After you've been tested on that, you'll get the Cyclist badge.
Yayyy!!!

Cyclist Badge

Dear Scouts

I will be conducting the cyclist badge this saturday, 27th Mar 2010. Please meet at Car Park C of Pasir Ris Park at 8.30am. All who wish to participate are to have their own bicycles, repair kits and an air pump. Safety gear like helmets, elbow and knee guards as well as bicycle flashlights can be brought to highlight and educate the rest on cycling safety. We will be having a short Risk Assessment Management (RAM) before we commence the activity. This is to highlight important factors that we need to consider when undertaking high risk activities. We will be cycling in Pasir Ris park itself. Below are the criteria for the badge:

1. Own and have used a bicycle which is properly equipped and in working order.
2. Be able to make simple adjustments and repairs like adjusting of seats, changing tyres and mending of puntures at the discretion of the Examiner.
3. Demonstrate knowledge and observe the Highway Code, traffic signs and signals and be able to read a map.

*For those who can't cycle, this sat will be a break for you. If you are still keen on coming, please find alternatives to join us for our cycling.

Do you KOrea?! Then JobWeek away!

Dear Scouts

Some of you would have heard from me earlier these 1-2 days about this.
As part of our efforts to reward and push for more exposure of you guys to do overseas Jamborees and such, I hear-by declare that the top TWO earners of this JobWeek will stand a chance to represent Dunman Dove to be part of the Singapore contingent to go to the.......

27TH ASIA PACIFIC JAMBOREE – 3RD INTERNATIONAL PATROL JAMBORETTE (South Korea)
GENERAL INFORMATION

Date: 4th to 9th August 2010. Participants are expected to arrive on Sunday, 4 August and may leave Tuesday, 9 August.

Campsite: Suncheon, Jeolla Province, Korea (380 Km from Seoul and 5 hours by bus from Incheon International Airport)

Theme: Scout’s embracing the green planet
Climate: Generally Good (22-31oC) with occasional rain

Eligibility: Scouts (aged 12-17 on 4 August 2010)

Estimated Fee: S$2000. The fees include Air Ticket, Travel Insurance, Food Rations, Jamboree Fees, Jamboree Participation Kit

The two top earners for this JobWeek once selected to go for this needs to be able to commit to the above mentioned dates, or he/she will forfeit his/her chance which will roll-over to next runner-up. Fees will be fully sponsored using our Scout HQ funds.

So how much to earn? Each Scout is expected to earn a minimum of $120.

What is max then? There is no cap for the max, but some other Scout Troops in other Secondary schools have achieved individual Scouts earning as high as $700 odd or more.

Now, I won't want to compare, but please BE HONEST & DO YOUR BEST!. WORK FOR YOUR KEEP!

We will keep the earnings of each individual Scouts as secret as possible and will announce the results once all the JobWeek returns are in by end of the March hols.

We do understand that the Combined UG Camp will take a bit of toll to your potential earnings, but much of it will come from this weekend and next weekend. Also do take good care of our attached Pri Sch cub scouts from Tampines Pri. Be good role models ok?

WORK HARD!!

Oh yah... one tip.. do book your teachers to do jobweek for them during the next week, weekdays in school to help them clean stuff, move stuff etc for a fee.
